Whoooo!
I figure since I'm running around all over the place and screaming at nothing,
it's time to write a review! Let's take a look at that wonderful anime
that is widely known as the best anime in the universe ever! Oh wait...
that's what it's known as if you're talking to somebody who has only seen what
Cartoon Network has to offer them and also has their head shoved up their ass!
Why do these people think this is the bestest ever? Well let's see, they
see lots of senseless fighting in between long stretches of calm and they're
reminded of their favorite rappers who like to commit crimes and then settle
back at the crib to rap to their bitches about the latest ass cracker they
waxed... or something.
All
right now, time for me to get going. The plot? Well, as most of you
already know, there isn't really any plot at all, which helps out those of us
with an IQ that's about the same as a fresh terd. All we have is a bunch
of people running around and shooting energy blasts at each other and then
getting in crazy stock footage hand-to-hand combat. The most interesting
thing that usually happens is when someone who was so powerful that it was
beyond the imagination of anyone is then matched in power by one of the good
guys and decides to become even more powerful. If the bad guy is defeated,
a new bad guy who is even more powerful just happens to show up to beat everyone
up for about three weeks before Goku gets there to save the day.
Okay,
now I have to mention that the whole series isn't like that. After the
Android saga, when they get into the Cell Game or whatever it's called (I
watched this about 9 months ago, so my memory is a little foggy, and I won't
watch that crap on Cartoon Network anymore either) they start focusing on more
than just Goku. Since many of the people who may be reading this probably
haven't seen all of DBZ, I won't say what happens so you can be amazed when you
see it for the first time ever on Cartoon Network (note: when they had a
commercial that said they were showing these 'new' episodes, they said it was
the first time these episodes had every been seen in America, I laughed).
Anyway, they start bringing out the fact that there is more to the show than
just Goku and people who haven't already may realize that Piccolo and Vegeta
kick ass.
Okay,
that's two good things about DBZ, Piccolo and Vegeta. Also, during and
after the Cell Game, the show just gets a lot more interesting. The
animation that kinda sucks also gets better during and after the Cell Game.
The drawings get more detailed and it just gets a little more fluid. Many
people may think that the animation completely bites ass from what they've seen
on TV, but I've noticed (as I also have seen Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi in Tokyo
without having to watch it on TV) that the animation seems to be really choppy
when shown on TV, don't ask me why.
There's
not a whole lot to DBZ, just a bunch of fighting spread over way too many
episodes, but after a while, especially during the Buu Saga, things just start
to get better, but not enough to make up for the fact that I don't really want
to watch the early episodes, or any of them for that matter, because it takes so
long for anything to happen and there are so many non-good things going on.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like DBZ (despite all appearances), it's just
that it's so easy to make fun of, and it's not so wonderful that I'll give it a
wonderful review. If you don't believe I like DBZ, then you should know
that I watched episodes 90-189
(or whatever it goes up to) plus all of DBGT in about a two weeks. That
was during school too.
Genre
- action/fighting/mystical powers
Animation
- for the first half or so of the series, it's pretty crappy, but after awhile
it gets better, to the point, in fact, where the animation and artwork are
actually pretty damn good (for a tv show), but that takes a little bit
Sub
vs. Dub - the sub is insanely better than the dub
the
Good - Vegita, Piccolo, animation got better, annoying characters got a
lot less annoying after awhile, the plot an story got better after awhile and
the whole thing got more interesting and fun to watch
the
Bad - bad animation for awhile, everything takes way too long to happen,
way too many episodes to make it easy to watch again, lots of other stuff that
got better as time went on... all this show amounts to is fighting to beat
the bad guy and then waiting for the new bad guy to show up so they can fight
him
Overall
- The second half of DBZ makes up for the first half being very crappy and
uninteresting
