I
remember thinking Ghost in the Shell was going to be another disappointment like
Bubblegum Crisis was, mostly because it was so popular and it was supposedly a
cyberpunk type anime, like Bubblegum Crisis.
I was wrong.
The basic idea of this show is that there are now
cyborgs and people with cybernetic implants running around.
One of these cyborgs works for some government organization with a few
others who have lesser augmentation. In
the show, they try and track down some guy who has the ability to hack into the
minds of the cyborgs, like our heroine’s.
The animation in this show is wonderful and the artwork equally so,
that’s the only way to put it. You
can see how good it is at points like the gun fights, where the walls get chewed
up believably. They also did a very
good job of blending the CGI with cell animation.
The music is very well done and the voice acting is
also top notch. The only problem
with this movie, like with Blood, is that it’s too short and leaves you
wanting to see more.
Genre
- action/sci fi
Animation
- great animation and great artwork, probably some of the best out there
Sub
vs. Dub - don't think I've watched all of the sub
the
Good - great action, great animation, quasi interesting plot, the people
look like people, bullets and the such leave realistic damage, blood and gore is
handled well, other stuff...
the
Bad - too short, I didn't care for the ending
Overall
- While I expected a mediocre movie for my purchasing efforts, what I got was
what people who've seen the movie told me to expect, extremely good shit
