WARNING:
don't
expect a review that goes real in-depth or makes complete sense, I'm doing this
one at school 'cause I'm bored
I
know that I probably shouldn't review this anime since I have only seen it on
Cartoon Network, but I don't think they changed it all that much to put it on
TV. Besides, I don't think that anything they cut could have changed my
opinion anyhow.
What
we have in this incarnation of the Gundam series is a lot of destruction and a
guy named Heero running around like he's some bad ass. That is something I
didn't like about Gundam Wing, they focused less on everyone and more on Heero,
even though he is probably the least interesting character. Because of
this, Gundam Wing turns into one of those anime series where you know who will
be the final savior of the world (for example - Ronin Warriors or Fatal Fury).
Oh well, another problem was that for some reason, they decided not to spend
more than 50 bucks or so on the animation. In a word, shittyassedanimation.
Seriously, I could've come up with something better using an Etch-A-Sketch and
an empty bucket. All we get for animation is a bunch of still frames that
get slowly panned across. Oh sure, there is a bit movement , but that is
usually during the crazy mobile suit fight scenes and they didn't even do a
really good job with those, lots of choppy movement or still shots of the
Gundams after they just destroyed something, but they did it so fast that you
missed it! Terds on that. Again, oh well. At least the
artistry was okay, considering it's a TV series.
The
big thing that pulled Gundam Wing out of the shitter was the story. While
you have to pay attention to everything to understand it, if you do stay on
track with it, the story turns out to be kinda interesting and it was full of
little plot twists. Another thing that was good was the Deathscythe.
(this is to all of you goons that think either the Wing 0 or Epyon are the best,
why the fuck would you like those two?! Okay, the Epyon looks cool, but
you know the damn thing is gonna win, no mater who is in it! Same with the
Wing 0, except the Wing 0 doesn't even look that cool. Dude, seriously,
the Deathscythe is cool lookin', has the best character as it's pilot and has a
big fucking laser scythe! And it has a neat name.)
All
in all, I think it was worth watching the first time, but I can't bring myself
to sit and watch it after my first run through. In my opinion, go and
watch one of the earlier Gundam series, I hear from people who might actually
know what they're talking about (not the people who think they've found the best
anime ever after seeing only one or two different anime movies or series,
especially if they saw something like Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network after it
was all fucked up by Funimation and thought it was, hands down, the definitive
anime, no arguments accepted) that the earlier Gundam series were a whole
monkey-ass load better than Gundam Wing. Personally, for how popular the
Gundam series is, I don't have any trouble believing that Gundam Wing really
sucks the shit lollipop compared to the rest of the series.
Genre
- action/drama
Animation
- The animation was like taking a big
pan full of slimy dog shit, swirling it around with a stick for about five
minutes and then using that shit to quench your thirst. (it wasn't very
good)
Sub
vs. Dub - have no
idea, only seen what's on TV
the
Good - Deathscythe, story, ummm...
it's not a bunch of five year olds making fun of me because I don't know why
Pikachu shoots lightning out of his ass
the
Bad - my dad running around the
room yelling sex whenever he heard somebody say Mr. Helmet-Head's name, Mr.
Helmet-Head's helmet, Relena, Heero, the animation, all the other stupid things
that I can't think of
Overall
- It's something to watch, when I first
started watching it, I thought it was the shit, that enthusiasm kinda let go of
me after a little bit. (49
episodes)
