Gunsmith Cats

It’s been a while since I watched this, so I may be a bit foggy on the details, but that shouldn’t matter.  Actually, I’ll probably end up watching GSC again tomorrow for lack of anything better to do, but since I’m bored now and the TV upstairs is being used, time to write a review damnit!

GSC is about two women who run a gun shop and also act as bounty hunters.  That’s pretty much it, but it gets the job done.

The animation and artwork in GSC reminded me a lot about Geobreeders, and it also reminded Josh of the same thing because he mentioned it to me as I had everyone plunked down to stare at it.  The mechanical designs are exact, as can be seen in the guns and vehicles, and if you watch the MAKING OF deal on the DVD, you can see just how much trouble they went to, to get everything perfect.  Right along with the mechanical designs is the fact that the makers of GSC actually used the real Chicago to make their anime Chicago, and much of the movie takes place in places the creators visited on their trip to the US.  The actual animation is only slightly less well done than in Geobreeders, that is, until the action starts up, then it gets a little boot in the fanny, like in the chase scenes.

GSC is good stuff, and it’s also generally realistic.  Especially since all of the sound effects for the weapons and cars were taken from the actual guns and cars themselves.  Yep, this show would have made a good movie, which is the only thing I don’t like about it.  In my opinion, they should have just combined the three episodes into one movie.

Genre - action

Animation - the animation was nice and smooth, for the most part, and the artwork was good, except when it got to stuff like guns, then it was insanely great

Sub vs. Dub - the sub is miles better than the dub... the dub is horrible

the Good - good action that's believable, good sound effects, it's just entertaining damnit!

the Bad - wish it'd been just one movie instead of a 3 part OVA

Overall - a nice, entertaining show that doesn't require much thought, kinda like Geobreeders, except GSC is more realistic and has better sound effects
