I was browsing around in Best Buy and saw a title I hadn’t seen before.
I picked it up and looked at it. My first thought was, “you know, that drawing
style looks like Kite…”, I then saw that it was made by the same people, and
considering the fact that the cover prominently displayed at least one ass, some
boobies and nippers and panties, I didn’t doubt it. I then read that this show
was supposed to have even more action than Kite, and since I was in a silly
mood, I decided this would be a good thing to watch.
Mezzo Forte is about a group of people who get hired to do illegal jobs
and sell sex robots to naughty people. Yeah, that’s about it. What we have
here is a show that is quite a bit less realistic than Kite. A show that allows
regular thugs to crack pavement with punches of frustration and teenage girls to
sidekick grown men directly through brick walls. Yes, the action in this show is
insane and it’s a lot sillier than Kite, but that’s not a bad thing.
Where Kite is more of a show for the kind of people who like a more
realistic depiction of action, Mezzo Forte caters to those who just want crazy,
high powered kung-fu and gun action (Bill Cosby is the man).
The animation is the same as in Kite, which means it’s pretty damned
good, and the artwork is the same. Also, the coloring is slightly more
realistic, which means it took my eyes 10 minutes long to start bleeding than
when I watched Kite. As far as action goes, Mezzo Forte (Josh tells me that it
means something like Medium Loud in French) has Kite beat like a drunken turkey.
Let me say that the director and the animators or whomever figured it out sure
knows how to do crazy kung-fu action.
Also, Mezzo Forte has fewer sex scenes, reducing them to 0, even though
it implies them. What I found out had happened in Kite was that many scenes were
cut out, leaving only one scene in the version I saw. I believe the same thing
happened in Mezzo Forte, which is okay by me, since I don’ particularly enjoy
watching “cartoon” characters dry humping each other. All in all, I can’t
say it’s better or worse than Kite, it’s just different, and if you’re in
a somewhat silly mood, it’s probably worth a watching.
Genre
- action
Animation
- the animation is pretty damn good and the artwork is okay, but the colors
still make me want to rip my eyeballs out
Sub
vs. Dub - the sub is better, but since the show is so goony in the first
place, it doesn't make much difference
the
Good - really good action... it's entertaining
the
Bad - yeah... colors, other stuff that I may have already mentioned
Overall - it's
good for a watch when you're bored, but not the best thing to own
