I bought
this movie at the same time as I bought the first one, because I saw that the
first movie had an extremely good rating at Carnage’s anime review page and
the second was even better. After
watching the first, I was real excited to pop the second in and get down to
business, because I liked the first one quite a bit.
Too bad for me the higher rating meant that it was worse.
From what I
can remember (I watched this a LONG time ago and sold the DVD on E-Bay shortly
thereafter), the story revolved more around the two police Captains(?) from the
first movie, bringing in the woman’s past as her former teacher/lover tries to
perform some terrorist activities to get back at the government for being a
bunch of idiots and getting his command destroyed back in the day.
Of course, I may be a little off, since I was almost falling asleep
during the movie.
Sure, the
animation is much better than the first movie, and I was real excited as the
show started off, since there was action right away and it looked great!
But, as the movie went on and I began to realize that was probably gonna
be the most action I’d see in the movie.
Here is the movie for you, 3 minutes of action goes into about an hour
and a half of movie that bores you into stupidity with its attempts to seem
clever which goes into about 4 minutes of action which goes into about 20
minutes of a very anticlimactic ending that also manages to be boring.
In my opinion, the main fault of this movie was that it focused too much
on the people. Sure,
I know how important it is to have the characters be people in a show and not
just symbols for a particular behavior, but this was one of those cases where
the show left out all the fun of big robots and focused on boring you with
characters who aren’t very interesting.
All in all, I was severely
tempted many times just to shut this crap off and get ready for drill, but the
fact that I’d paid about $20 for it and the hope of ANY action kept me sitting
there… please don’t buy this movie.
Genre
- sci fi/suspense/mecha/boring
Animation
- EXCELLENT animation and great artwork!
Sub
vs. Dub - the sub
is probably better, not that I would know
the
Good - it sure had some good animation...
the
Bad - boring, hardly any action,
boring, forgot it was a mecha show, boring, etc...
Overall
- poop on this movie
