This one is
kinda like Princess Mononoke, whereas I don’t really know what to say…
hmm…
This is a
story of the triumph of the human spirit in a time when all that seems to matter
is personal pleasure and gain. A
story of a man who begins to understand himself more as his eyes are opened by a
young quasi-homeless girl who preaches God’s word.
A story of understanding of things that were previously misunderstood,
symbols taken for granted that now mean more than life to those who understand
them. This is a story about a young man who triumphs over himself
and those who would see him fail. This
is the story of his journey from darkness to light.
Yeah… right…. Anyway, you won’t get much action out of this movie,
just a very good story, very good animation and time well spent watching it.
(P.S. – I only watched the
subtitled version because I heard the dub had terds on it)
Genre
- sci fi/drama
Animation
- wonderful animation and excellent
artwork that makes this movie stand out as something different than everything
else (the mechanical designs)
Sub
vs. Dub - I first
watched the sub and then attempted the dub for a little bit... the sub is better
the
Good - beautiful animation, the general lack of action was not a bad
thing, great story, well handled character development, the action that was
there was very well done, etc...
the
Bad - I didn't care for the scene
where the hero did the bad thing... you'll know what I mean when you see it if
you haven't (that scene wasn't bad for the movie, but I don't like that sort of
thing)
Overall
- wonderful movie, right up there with
Princess Mononoke
